Chemline, Inc. of St. Louis, MO has purchased the T. A. Davies Company (TADCO) of Rancho Dominguez, CA. TADCO has been an innovative formulator of specialty cold-cast polyurethane chemicals since 1972. For many years, the company focused on urethane technologies for bowling ball cover stocks, flexible architectural trim moldings and a variety of roto-moldable urethane compounds to produce items such as fashion mannequins and after-market automobile styling accessories. The acquisition of TADCO provides Chemline with a growth platform for expansion into the West Coast region, as well as introducing new formulation technology. “It has been a natural transition, working within the same polymer chemistries, to move Chemline beyond Fast Set Coatings into the Molded Products segments,” said Jim Segbers, Executive Vice President and Commercial Director for Chemline. “The Cold Cast Molded Products business group is our fastest growing segment, and we’re eager to bring our technologies and service offering to the west coast – we think there is a place there for a privately held, independent formulator of urethane systems.” Chemline was founded in 1997, quickly establishing core competencies within the Fast Set Spray marketplace and commercializing products for all manner of applications, utilizing two-component, instant-setting polyurea and polyurethane coatings. Chemline aggressively pursued the Fast Set Coatings marketplace in the Midwest coming out of the recession of 2009, and has grown rapidly into a $60+MM business, employing 78 people in its St. Louis operation. The Chemline team boasts a technical staff of 12, which includes 2 PhD chemists, 4 dedicated, full-time travelling technical service representatives, and 11 consultative sellers. Custom formulation and on-site technical service and consultation is the lynchpin of Chemline’s service offering.
